Jansen Harkins’ travels continue.

On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins assigned the reserve forward to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, one day after he was recalled to the NHL roster.

The team announced the transaction shortly before it hosted the New York Rangers at PPG Paints Arena on Wednesday.

This marks the second time Harkins has been shuffled between the AHL and NHL rosters within a week. On Saturday, he was recalled under emergency roster conditions then reassigned in a matter of hours.

After being claimed on waivers from the Winnipeg Jets on Oct. 2, Harkins appeared in four NHL contests with the Penguins without a point while averaging 9:28 of ice time per contest.

By Oct. 19, Harkins was placed on waivers. One day later, he went unclaimed and was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In 11 AHL games this season, Harkins has nine points (four goals, five assists).

The left-handed Harkins is in the second year of a two-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $850,000.
