Forwards Conor Dewar, Robby Fabbri and Philip Tomasino each scored their first goals of the preseason, helping the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Detroit Red Wings, 3-2, on Friday at PPG Paints Arena.
The result was the Penguins’ first victory of the preseason (1-1-1).
Dewar’s score came at 2 minutes, 32 seconds of the second period, whereas Fabbri (4:46) and Tomasino (9:54) struck in the third frame. Tomasino’s goal came during a power-play sequence.
Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry, in his first appearance of the preseason, made 11 saves on 13 shots in 31:48 of ice time as the starter.
As planned, Jarry was replaced by Arturs Silovs midway through the contest. Over 28:12 of ice time, Silovs stopped all seven shots he faced and recorded the win, boosting his preseason record to 1-1-0.
