Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan dismissed rumors he was connected to the vacant head coaching job of the New York Rangers.
In a phone interview with the New York Post on Wednesday, the same outlet that largely created the rumor, Sullivan indicated he will remain with the team that he has a contract with through the 2026-27 season.
The speculation of Sullivan going to the Rangers was first published on Twitter by a New York Post writer May 9. Eight days later, Sullivan spoke with another New York Post reporter who published a story on that outlet’s rumor having no substance.
“No, I am under contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins, here for the long haul,” Sullivan told the New York Post.
