Penguins goaltender Casey DeSmith made 21 saves on 25 shots for the United States in a 4-3 loss to Latvia in the bronze medal game at Nokia Arena.
Primarily serving as the United States’ top goaltender, DeSmith finished the tournament with a 5-2 record, a 1.95 goals against average, a .917 save percentage and two shutouts.
Penguins forward Drew O’Connor recorded an assist on Sunday while logging 19:45 of ice time on 23 shifts. Deployed as the United States’ second-line center, O’Connor had two shots and was 10 for 16 (62.5%) on faceoffs.
Playing in 10 games over the course of the tournament, O’Connor finished third on the United States in scoring with eight points (three goals, five assists) while averaging 16:52 of ice time per contest.
Serving as the United States’ captain and first-line center, Penguins forward Nick Bonino clocked 18:38 of ice time on 25 shifts in Sunday’s game, had five shots and was 13 for 21 (61.9%) on faceoffs.
Appearing in nine games in the tournament, Bonino had four points (three goals, one assist) while averaging 18:09 of ice time per contest.
