Penguins defensemen Marcus Pettersson and Chad Ruhwedel have resumed skating after being in isolation for covid-19.
Assistant coach Todd Reirden announced their statuses to media in Chicago on Tuesday.
“Chad and Marcus both went through their final stages of their protocol (Tuesday) morning which included the cardiac screening,” Reirden said. “They were able to skate (Tuesday) in Cranberry.”
The Penguins announced Oct. 31 that Ruhwedel and Pettersson had each tested positive for the virus.
Defenseman Brian Dumoulin, forward Sidney Crosby and coach Mike Sullivan all remain in isolation due to the virus.
Notes:
• Reirden indicated goaltender Tristan Jarry is slated to start his fourth consecutive game in Tuesday’s road contest against the Chicago Blackhawks. In eight games this season, Jarry has a 4-2-2 record, a 2.33 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.
• The Penguins had an optional morning skate at the United Center.
• Ex-Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to start for the Blackhawks. In eight games this season, Fleury has a 1-7-0 record, a 4.11 goals against average and .881 save percentage.
• Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Cam Lee was suspended two games by the American Hockey League (AHL) for an illegal check to the head of Hartford Wolf Pack forward Patrick Khodorenko on Saturday.
• Lee’s suspension prompted Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to sign Wheeling Nailers defenseman Dylan MacPherson to a professional tryout agreement on Tuesday.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
