Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin was assessed a bevy of penalties during a home game against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night, including a game misconduct.

Early in the second period, at the 38-second mark, Malkin and Sabres defenseman Rasmus Dahlin engaged in a physical battle resulting in penalties for both parties.

Malkin struck Dahlin in the side of the head with his stick. Malkin dropped his gloves to fight but Dahlin did not reciprocate.

While Dahlin was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking, Malkin incurred a minor penalty for slashing, a major penalty for slashing and a game misconduct.

The Sabres wound up with a five-minute power-play opportunity after officials sorted out the penalties.
