Penguins fall to Blue Jackets in second preseason contest
Forward Zach Gallant scored the Pittsburgh Penguins’ lone goal in a 4-1 preseason loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday.
The score was Gallant’s first of the preseason and came at 9 minutes, 45 seconds of the first period off an assist from forward Ville Koivunen.
In his preseason debut, goaltender Arturs Silovs started and was charged with the loss after unofficially making 12 saves on 14 shots during 29:39 of ice time.
As planned, Silovs was replaced midway through the game by Filip Larsson. Also making his first appearance of the preseason, Larsson stopped eight of nine shots over 29:36 of ice time.
The result dropped the Penguins’ preseason mark to 0-1-1.
Next on the preseason schedule for the Penguins is a home contest against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.
