Pittsburgh Penguins forward Blake Lizotte will be sidelined indefinitely because of an undisclosed injury.

The team announced his status via social media Tuesday afternoon, stating he will be evaluated in four weeks.

Typically deployed as the center of the fourth line, Lizotte was scratched Monday during a 7-2 road win against the Colorado Avalanche.

A left-handed shot, Lizotte has skated in 55 games this season and scored 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) while averaging 13:52 of ice time per contest, including 2:29 while short-handed.

Lizotte has also taken the third-most faceoffs on the team (476), winning 50% (238) of them.

Center depth has been an issue in recent weeks for the Penguins, primarily because of the extended absence of Sidney Crosby, who has missed the past 11 games with a presumed right leg injury he suffered while skating for Canada in the Olympics last month. Additionally, Tristan Broz, one of the organization’s more prominent prospects, has been sidelined since Feb. 28 after suffering an undisclosed injury while playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
