Pittsburgh Penguins forward Boko Imama will miss the remainder of the season following surgery to repair a bicep injury.
Per a release from the team, Imama underwent surgery on Saturday and will require a recovery period of four to six months.
It is not publicly known when or how Imama suffered the injury. He was scratched during a 7-3 road loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday due to the ailment.
A free agent signing during the 2024 offseason, the 28-year-old Imama has appeared in a career-high 16 NHL games this season and has scored one goal while averaging 5:40 of ice time per contest. Arguably the toughest member of the organization, Imama (6-foot-1, 221 pounds) had accumulated 30 minutes in penalties this season.
Opening the campaign with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), the left-handed Imama appeared in 24 games with that team and scored five points (three goals, two assists) while accumulating 47 penalty minutes.
Signed to a one-year, two-way contract worth $775,000, Imama is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason.
