Penguins forward Brandon Tanev will miss Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators at PPG Paints Arena due to an illness according to coach Mike Sullivan.
In 64 games this season, Tanev has scored 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists).
He is one of four players who have appeared in all of the Penguins’ games this season along with forwards Teddy Blueger, Dominik Simon and defenseman Marcus Pettersson.
On Monday, Sullivan announced Simon will be sidelined on a week-to-week basis due to an undisclosed injury.
Tanev’s absence promoted the team to recall rookie forward Anthony Angello from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.
Notes:
• Defensemen Brian Dumoulin and John Marino are expected to return to the lineup according to Sullivan. Dumoulin has been sidelined since Nov. 30 due to lacerated tendons in his left ankle while Marino has not played due to broken bones in his face he suffered after being struck in the face by a puck Feb. 6.
“These guys are ready to play,” Sullivan said. “They’ve been in a handful of practices. They’re in great shape. Our strength and conditioning (staffers) have done a great job making sure they’re ready for this opportunity.”
• Goaltender Matt Murray is expected to start for the Penguins. In 34 games this season, he has a 17-10-5 record along with a 2.85 goals against average, a .900 save percentage and one shutout.
• The Senators are expected to start goaltender Craig Anderson. In 30 games this season, he has a 9-15-2 record along with a 3.21 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.
• Senators forward Colin White is expected to return to the lineup after missing three games due to an undisclosed injury.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
