Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evan Rodrigues was fined $2,500 by the NHL for a dangerous trip against Ottawa Senators forward Zach Sanford during the Senators’ 6-3 home win on Saturday.

At 6 minutes, 13 seconds of the third period, Rodrigues used his stick to push into the left leg of Sanford, causing him to fall backwards during a goalmouth scramble near the Penguins’ crease.

This is the first time Rodrigues has been fined in his career. All money goes to the NHL’s Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
