Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin scratched due to injury
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin has been scratched for Tuesday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets at PPG Paints Arena due to an undisclosed injury.
Per one of the team’s social media accounts, Malkin is considered day to day.
During a morning skate in Cranberry, Malkin was a full participant, centering the team’s second line and operating on the second power-play unit. There was little sign to suggest that was Malkin displaying any kind of visible impediment.
His absence will snap his consecutive games played streak at 209.
Only forward Sidney Crosby has a longer active streak among his teammates entering Tuesday’s game:
Sidney Crosby — 215
Evgeni Malkin — 209
Erik Karlsson — 113
Rickard Rakell — 94
Drew O’Connor — 60
In 41 games this season, Malkin has scored 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists) while averaging 18:35 of ice time per contest.
