Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby will team up with longtime rival Alexander Ovechkin in the breakaway competition in the NHL’s All-Star Skills event Friday.

Participants for all the competitions were announced Thursday by the league.

The breakaway competition will be staged at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Fla., and also will include former NHL goaltender Roberto Luongo, Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak and Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk.

The other participants are listed individually, but Crosby and Ovechkin will be “teaming up,” per a press release from the league.

Crosby is also scheduled to participate in an event called Splash Shot on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, where players shoot at targets to attempt to dunk their opponents.

The All-Star Game event, a three-on-three tournament between players from the league’s four divisions, is Saturday.

Crosby previously has indicated he would prefer to enjoy downtime than participate in events such as these.

“It’s an honor, it’s a compliment to be recognized for it,” Crosby said to media that traveled to Ottawa on Jan. 16. “I’m not going to lie, as you get older, I think you’d like to have a little bit of the break, though. You’re honored, it’s a compliment. But I like getting rest at this point.”
