New York Islanders forward Zach Parise’s shot beats Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry during an April 14 game at PPG Paints Arena. Jarry suffered an apparent foot injury in that contest and has not practiced since.

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry remains out, and his status remains termed as “week to week” with “a lower-body injury” by coach Mike Sullivan. The annual team photo Wednesday perhaps provided some hints to further provide clarity on Jarry’s ailment.

Jarry’s right foot was in what appeared to be a boot-like apparatus, and the two-time All-Star moved via a wheeled scooter-like device as he descended through the tunnel by the home-team bench at PPG Paints Arena. Jarry was pushed off the ice by teammate Chad Ruhwedel, wheelchair-style, while he sat in a folding chair after the team photo.

The NHL playoffs begin in less than two weeks, May 2.

“Tristan is going through a rehab process right now,” Sullivan said after Wednesday’s practice. “His status is week to week. We are not sure what that picture (outlook for the playoffs) will look like.”

Jarry was injured during last Thursday’s 6-3 win against the New York Islanders, presumably when Islanders forward Anders Lee tripped and slid into Jarry’s right leg midway through the third period of Thursday’s game. Jarry flexed his right leg for a little while after that but completed the game. He has not practiced since.

Backup Casey DeSmith has assumed No. 1 goalie duties for the time being, and Louis Domingue was recalled from the minors to serve as the backup.

Jarry is sixth in the NHL in goals-against average (2.42) and is eighth in save percentage (.919). Only four goalies in the league have more shutouts (four). Jarry ranks sixth in games played (58) and seventh in shots faced (1,711).

Keep up with the Pittsburgh Penguins all season long.
