ELMONT, N.Y. — After being formally eliminated from playoff contention on Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic in the team’s regular season finale against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Wednesday.

Coach Mike Sullivan announced Nedeljkovic’s status following a morning skate.

Nedeljkovic will complete the season having started 13 consecutive games in lieu of typical starter Tristan Jarry.

In 37 games this season, Nedeljkovic has a 18-6-7 record, a 2.91 goals against average, a .904 save percentage and one shutout.

Throughout his career, Nedeljkovic has played the Islanders in five contests and posted a 3-0-1 record, a 2.77 goals against average, and a .913 save percentage.

Notes:

• Penguins defenseman Kris Letang and forward Emil Bemstrom were absent from the morning skate.

Per Sullivan, Letang, who has been absent from several practices and morning skates as of late for “maintenance days,” will be available.

• Sullivan indicated Bemstrom is not available but did not provide a reason.

The Penguins acquired Bemstrom in a trade with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Feb. 22. As a condition of the transaction, if Bemstrom had scored six goals with the Penguins by the conclusion of the season, the 2026 sixth-round pick the Penguins send to the Blue Jackets would be upgraded to a third-round pick.

Through 24 games with the Penguins, Bemstrom has scored only three goals.

• Penguins forwards Sidney Crosby, Lars Eller and Evgeni Malkin as well as defensemen Erik Karlsson, Kris Letang and Marcus Pettersson have an opportunity to play in all 82 games this regular season.

- The Islanders are scheduled to start goaltender Ilya Sorokin. In 55 games this season, Sorokin has a 24-19-12 record, a 2.99 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and two shutouts.

• Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech has played in 499 career games.

• Islanders defenseman Mike Reilly has played in 399 career games.
