Pittsburgh Penguins rookie goaltender Arturs Silovs is scheduled to start Saturday’s home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Dan Muse announced Silovs’ status approximately two hours before the opening faceoff.
In 11 games this season, Silovs has a 4-3-4 record, a 2.74 goals against average, a .907 save percentage and one shutout.
Silovs has never faced the Maple Leafs before in his career.
Notes:
• Muse indicated no other lineup changes are expected.
• Neither team staged a morning skate after playing road games on Friday night. The Penguins defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-3, in overtime, while the Maple Leafs were defeated by the Washington Capitals, 4-2.
• The Maple Leafs are expected to start goaltender Dennis Hildeby. In five games this season, Hildeby has a 0-2-1 record, a 3.37 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.
Hildeby has never faced the Penguins before.
• The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
• The scheduled referees are Morgan MacPhee (No. 43) and Francis Charron (No. 6), while the linesmen are Mark Schewchyk (No. 92) and Jesse Marquis (No. 86).
