Penguins goaltender Arturs Silovs scheduled to start against Senators

Pittsburgh Penguins rookie goaltender Arturs Silovs is scheduled to start Monday’s game against the Ottawa Senators at PPG Paints Arena.

Coach Dan Muse announced Silovs’ status following a morning skate in Cranberry.

In 24 games this season, Silovs has a 10-6-8 record, a 2.96 goals-against average, an .893 save percentage and one shutout.

Silovs has faced the Senators once in his career. During a 4-0 road loss on Dec. 18, Silovs made 22 saves on 26 shots.

• The first power-play unit included Crosby, Karlsson, Malkin, Mantha and Rakell. The second power-play unit involved Brazeau, Chinakhov, Kindel, Novak and Shea.

• Defensemen Caleb Jones and Ryan Graves participated in the morning skate. Both players are currently designated to injured reserve with unspecified maladies. Muse indicated they have been cleared for contact.

• The Penguins enter the contest with a six-game winning streak, matching a season-best previously established between Dec. 28 and Jan. 8.

• Penguins forward Bryan Rust is serving the final contest of a three-game suspension.

• Rakell has 298 career assists.

• This will be the Penguins’ final home game before the Olympic break.

• The Senators are expected to start goaltender Linus Ullmark. In 29 games this season, Ullmark has a 15-8-5 record, a 2.89 goals against average, an .884 save percentage and one shutout.

Ullmark made 25 saves against the Penguins on Dec. 18.

• Senators forward Dylan Cozens has 99 career goals.

• Former Penguins forward David Perron (sports hernia) is currently designated to injured reserve by the Senators.

• The scheduled referees are Francis Charron (No. 6) and Alex Lepkowski (No. 44), while the linespersons are Brad Kovachik (No. 71) and C.J. Murray (No. 68).
