Pittsburgh Penguins rookie goaltender Sergei Murashov is scheduled to start Saturday’s home game against the Seattle Kraken at PPG Paints Arena.

Coach Dan Muse announced Murashov’s status approximately two hours before the opening faceoff.

In three games this season, Murashov has a 1-1-0 record, a 1.53 goals-against average, a .932 save percentage and one shutout.

On Friday, Murashov replaced starter Arturs Silovs during the second period of a 5-0 home loss to the Minnesota Wild. In 38:51 of ice time, Murashov stopped 10 of 11 shots.

Following the game, Murashov boldly suggested the Penguins would rebound after such a bad loss.

“We’re a group of professionals,” Murashov said. “It’s going to be a really good response tomorrow (Saturday).”
