Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is scheduled to rejoin the lineup and start Wednesday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Dan Muse announced Jarry’s status following an optional morning skate.
Currently designated to injured reserve, Jarry has been sidelined since suffering an undisclosed ailment in a 4-3 road loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 4.
In seven games this season, Jarry has a 5-2-0 record, a 2.60 goals-against average, .911 save percentage and one shutout.
Throughout his career, Jarry has played against the Sabres in 14 games and has posted a 9-4-0 record, a 2.61 GAA, .906 save percentage and two shutouts.
Rookie goaltender Arturs Silovs will dress as the backup.
With Jarry slated to rejoin the active roster, rookie goaltender Sergei Murashov will presumably be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
Notes:
• Penguins forward Bryan Rust declared himself fit to rejoin the lineup after missing the past two days of practice due to illness.
Typically deployed on the right wing of the top line and on the top power-play unit, Rust has appeared in 19 games this season and is the team’s third-leading scorer with 15 points (five goals, 10 assists) while averaging 20:09 of ice time.
• Penguins rookie forward Ville Koivunen is slated to rejoin the lineup as well after missing the past three games due to an unspecified leg injury. Currently designated to injured reserve, Koivunen has played in 11 games and has recorded two assists while clocking 12:34 of ice time per contest, primarily on the third line.

• Penguins rookie forward Tristan Broz is expected to make his NHL debut after being recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
A second-round draft pick (No. 58 overall) under former general manager Ron Hextall, the 23-year-old Broz has emerged as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s leader in goals with eight (along with five assists) in 18 games.
The left-handed Broz has primarily been working as a center on the third line in the past two days of practice with Koivunen on the left wing and Tommy Novak at right wing.
