Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry scheduled to start against Blues
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is scheduled to start his team’s game against the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints Arena on Monday.
Coach Dan Muse announced Jarry’s status following an optional morning skate in Cranberry.
In four games this season, Jarry has a 3-1-0 record, a 2.52 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and one shutout.
Throughout his career, Jarry has played the Blues in nine contests and posted a 7-1-1 record, a 2.35 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.
Hitherto this season, the Penguins have alternated starts in net between Jarry and Arturs Silovs.
Notes:
• Those attending the Penguins’ optional morning skate included:
Forwards – Connor Dewar, Filip Hallander, Kevin Hayes, Ben Kindel, Ville Koivunen, Blake Lizotte, Tommy Novak, Philip Tomasino
Defensemen – Harrison Brunicke, Connor Clifton, Ryan Shea
Goaltender – Arturs Silovs
• Hayes participated in the morning skate in a full-contact capacity, though morning skates typically have little to no contact. Regardless, it marks the first time Hayes has skated in that capacity since he suffered a suspected left shoulder injury on the first day of training camp Sept. 18.
“He’s progressing,” Muse said. “This is kind of the next step there, just coming back with the group. Obviously, it’s an optional (morning skate) there today. It’ll be later in the week, when we have team practice. But it’s the next step for him.”
Hayes is currently designated to injured reserve.
• Penguins forward Sidney Crosby has 1,698 career points.
• Penguins forward Rickard Rakell will be scratched due to a left hand injury. That will snap a consecutive games played streak of 42 games. That is the second longest active streak with the Penguins currently.
In total, only six members of the team have active consecutive games streaks that extend before the start of this season:
• The Blues are expected to start goaltender Joel Hofer. In three games this season, Hofer has a 1-1-0 record, a 6.22 goals against average and a .789 save percentage.
Throughout his career, Hofer has played the Penguins in three contests and posted a 1-1-0 record, a 3.20 goals against average and an .881 save percentage.
As a member of the American Hockey League’s Springfield Thunderbirds, Hofer scored a goal on an empty net in a postseason game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, May 12, 2022:
