Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry scheduled to start against Canadiens

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is scheduled to start Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens at PPG Paints Arena.

Coach Dan Muse announced Jarry’s status following a morning skate in Cranberry.

In 13 games this season, Jarry has a 9-2-1 record, a 2.54 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and one shutout.

Throughout his career, Jarry has played against the Canadiens in 11 games and posted an 8-1-1 record, a 2.50 goals- against average, a .911 save percentage and one shutout.

• St. Ivany remains designated to the injured non-roster list due to a suspected right foot injury, while Penguins forward Rickard Rakell remains designated to injured reserve due to a left hand ailment. Rakell operated as a reserve during the morning skate.

• Penguins rookie defenseman Harrison Brunicke skated with a team staffer on a separate rink, then joined the reserves following the main portion of the morning skate.

• The Penguins have a six-game winning streak against the Canadiens. That is their longest active winning streak against any specific opponent.

• Canadiens rookie goaltender Jacob Fowler is scheduled to start Thursday’s game and make his NHL debut.

A third-round draft pick (No. 69 overall) in 2023, Fowler has appeared in 15 American Hockey League games with the Laval Rocket this season and has posted a 10-5-0 record, a 2.09 goals-against average, a .919 save percentage and three shutouts.

At the junior level, Fowler led the Youngstown Phantoms to the United States Hockey League’s Clark Cup championship in 2023.
