Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry scheduled to start against Devils
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is scheduled to start Saturday’s game against the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status approximately two hours before the opening faceoff.
This will be Jarry’s fourth consecutive start. In his three most recent games, Jarry has a 3-0-0 record, a 1.99 goals against average and a .942 save percentage.
Overall this season, Jarry has appeared in 25 contests and posted an 11-8-4 record, a 3.14 goals against average and an .893 save percentage.
Throughout his career, Jarry has faced the Devils in 16 games and has a 6-8-2 record, a 3.22 goals against average and an .898 save percentage.
Notes:
• Injured Penguins defensemen P.O Joseph (undisclosed) and Ryan Shea (suspected left hand or wrist) as well as forward Tommy Novak remain sidelined due to various injuries.
Of that group, only Shea is able to work out on the ice. Joseph is currently designated to injured reserve.
• The Penguins enter today’s contest with a six-game home losing streak to the Devils (0-5-1).
Their last last home win against this opponent was a 4-2 victory April 24, 2021. Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 34 saves on 36 shots in the win.
• The Devils are expected to start goaltender Jacob Markstrom. In 40 games this season, Markstrom has a 22-12-5 record, a 2.36 goals against average, a .906 save percentage and three shutouts.
Throughout his career, Markstrom has faced the Penguins in 12 contests and has posted an 8-4-0 record, a 2.08 goals against average, a .933 save percentage and two shutouts.
