In 80 games this season, Penguins forward Sidney Crosby has 91 points (33 goals, 58 assists).

Forward Sidney Crosby has been named as the Pittsburgh Penguins’ team MVP for the 2022-23 season.

This marks the third consecutive season Crosby has claimed the honor and the 11th time overall. The award is voted on by the players.

Having appeared in all 80 of the Penguins’ games to this point of the season, Crosby leads the team with 91 points (33 goals, 58 assists) while averaging 20:08 of ice time per contest.

Crosby was also one of three recipients of the team’s Players’ Player Award, along with defenseman Kris Letang and forward Jason Zucker. This award is also voted on by players and recognizes “the player they feel exemplifies leadership for the team both on and off the ice, and who is dedicated to teamwork.”

Crosby has won this award five times overall, including the previous two seasons. This is the first occasion Letang and Zucker have received this honor.

Defenseman P.O. Joseph was selected as the team’s rookie of the year.

Currently the only rookie on the active roster, Joseph has appeared in 73 games this season and has 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) while clocking an average of 15:18 of ice time per contest.

The team has not presented this award since the 2016-17 season when goaltender Matt Murray claimed it.
