Penguins place forward Emil Bemstrom on waivers

The Pittsburgh Penguins placed forward Emil Bemstrom on waivers Monday.

Should he go unclaimed by 2 p.m. Tuesday, he can be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Bemstrom previously cleared waivers Oct. 5 during the final stages of training camp and was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

In 13 NHL contests this season, Bemstrom has recorded one assist while averaging 8:20 of ice time per contest.

At the AHL level, Bemstrom was selected as an All-Star this season. In 43 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he has scored 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists).

A right-handed shot, the 25-year-old Bemstrom (6-foot, 190 pounds) is signed to a one-year contract worth $775,000. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent on July. 1
