In 21 games this season, Penguins forward Joseph Blandisi has five points (two goals, three assists).

The Penguins on Wednesday placed forward Joseph Blandisi on waivers.

In 21 games this season, Blandisi has five points (two goals, three assists). He was a healthy scratch for Tuesday’s 4-3 win at the Vegas Golden Knights.

Including the preseason, Blandisi has been placed on waivers three times this season. If he clears by noon Thursday, the team could assign him to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

That would allow the team to potentially activate a player from injured reserve such as forward Sidney Crosby, sidelined since Nov. 9 because of a core muscle injury.
