Penguins executive Amanda Kessel has represented the United States in three Olympic Tournaments.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have promoted Amanda Kessel to a role in the front office titled special assistant to president of hockey operations and general manager.

Previously, Kessel had an executive fellow role within a executive management program offered by the franchise. In that station, she had a wide variety of duties, including in some hockey operations capacities as well other areas such as business, marketing and communications.

The specific nature of her duties in her new role is not yet known publicly.

Her promotion was not formally announced by the team but a change in her title was evident on the team staff page of the Penguins’ website as of Saturday. A team official confirmed her new role to the Tribune-Review.

A native of Madison, Wisc., Kessel, 31, is one of the more prolific players in the history of the United States Women’s National Team having helped that squad win three Olympic medals, including gold in 2018. This past April, Kessel, a forward, had nine points (five goals, four assists) in seven games for the United States as it claimed gold in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship tournament.

Her brother, forward Phil Kessel, played for the Penguins over four seasons and was a member of the franchise’s Stanley Cup championship teams in 2016 and 2017.
