The Penguins selected defenseman Brady Peddle in the third round (No. 91 overall) in the NHL Draft last month.

Pittsburgh Penguins defensive prospect Brady Peddle has signed with the Charlottetown Islanders of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) for the 2025-26 season.

That transaction was announced on Monday and does not affect his status with the Penguins, who selected Peddle in the third round (No. 91 overall) in the NHL Draft last month.

The Islanders obtained Peddle’s QMJHL rights from the Gatineau Olympiques via a trade in June. During the 2023 QMJHL draft, the Olympiques selected Peddle in the third round (No. 50 overall) but he never played for that team.

A native of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Peddle (6-foot-3, 203 pounds) spent the 2024-25 season with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Peddle, a left-handed shot, appeared in 62 games last season and scored 10 points (three goals, seven assists).

The 18-year-old Peddle is committed to join Michigan State at the NCAA level beginning in the 2026-27 season.

According to Puckpedia, the Penguins can retain Peddle’s NHL rights until Aug. 15, 2030.
