Penguins Prospect Watch: Lukas Svejkovsky emerges as WHL’s top scorer

An occasional look at how the Penguins’ prospects have performed over the previous seven days:

• In the Western Hockey League (WHL), forward Lukas Svejkovsky scored in overtime and recorded three assists for the Medicine Hat Tigers in a 5-4 home win against the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday.

A fourth-round pick (No. 108 overall) in 2020, Svejkovsky is in a four-way tie at the top of the WHL’s scoring race with 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in nine games this season. The 19-year-old is unsigned.

• In the American Hockey League (AHL), forward Kasper Bjorkqvist scored his first goal of the season in overtime and gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 home win against the Hartford Wolf Pack on Friday.

A second-round draft pick (No. 61 overall) in 2016, the 24-year-old Bjorkqvist is signed to a one-year two-way contract.

• Two goals by forward Valtteri Puustinen led Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to a 2-1 road win against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Sunday.

The 22-year-old Puustinen was a seventh-round pick (No. 203 overall) in 2019. He is in the first year of a two-year entry-level contract.

• In the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), goaltender Calle Clang made 20 saves on 21 shots and led Rogle to a 3-1 home win against Lulea on Saturday.

A third-round pick (No. 77 overall) in 2020, Clang, 19, is unsigned.

• In the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), forward Raivis Ansons had a short-handed goal and two assists for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in a 5-4 road loss to the Victoriaville Tigres on Sunday.

A fifth-round pick (No. 149 overall) of the Penguins in 2020, the 19-year-old Ansons is unsigned.

• Elsewhere in the QMJHL on Sunday, defenseman Isaac Belliveau had an assist for the Gatineau Olympiques in a 3-2 road win against the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

Belliveau, 18, was a fifth-round pick (No. 154 overall) in 2021. He is unsigned.

• In the NCAA, forward Judd Caulfield scored a game-winning goal on a power-play opportunity for North Dakota in a 3-1 road win against Quinnipiac on Saturday.

A fifth-round pick (No. 145 overall) in 2019, Caulfield, 20, is unsigned.

• Also in the NCAA, defenseman Clayton Phillips recorded two assists for Penn State in a 6-2 home win against Niagara on Friday.

Phillips, 22, was a third-round pick (No. 93 overall) in 2017. He is unsigned.

• Elsewhere in the NCAA, forward Chase Yoder scored the game-winning goal for Providence in a 2-0 road win against New Hamsphire on Sunday.

The 19-year-old Yoder was a sixth-round pick (No. 170 overall) in 2020. He is unsigned.

• In the Supreme Hockey league (VHL), forward Kirill Tankov had an assist on a game-winning goal for SKA-Neva St. Petersburg in a 5-0 home win against Neftyanik on Sunday.

A seventh-round pick (No. 218 overall) in 2021, the 19-year-old Tankov is not signed.
