The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled rookie forward Avery Hayes from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League on Monday morning.

It marks the second time within a week that Hayes has been summoned to the NHL roster. He was recalled on Thursday but was a healthy scratch that night during a 4-3 road shootout win against the Ottawa Senators.

He was returned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton by Saturday.

Hayes has appeared in 11 NHL games this season and scored two goals while averaging 10:37 of ice time per contest.

At the AHL level, Hayes has appeared in 39 contests and posted 34 points, including a team-leading 22 goals.

A right-handed shot, Hayes (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) is in the first year of a two-year entry-level contract with a salary cap hit of $830,000.
