The Pittsburgh Penguins recalled rookie forward Filip Hallander from a conditioning loan with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on Friday evening.

With regard to his NHL status, Hallander remains designated to injured reserve as a result of a blood clot in an unspecified leg that initially sidelined him in November.

The team did not announce Friday’s transaction, but it was reflected on the AHL’s website.

Per the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ radio broadcast, Hallander is physically with the AHL club which is in Northeast Ohio for a road game against the Cleveland Monsters but is unable to play due to an undisclosed injury.

Initially assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Feb. 18, Hallander primarily skated on the left wing of the top line for three games and scored one goal.

Before being sidelined, Hallander skated in 13 NHL contests this season and posted four points (one goal, three assists) while averaging 13:09 of ice time.

With Hallander still designated to injured reserve, the Penguins currently have 23 active players on the NHL roster, matching the league limit.
