The Penguins recalled forwards Anthony Angello and Radim Zahorna from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) and assigned them to the taxi squad Monday. This marks the second time this season each player has been recalled to the NHL club.
Additionally, forward Drew O’Connor has been removed from the NHL’s protocols for covid-19 and assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Various ailments have limited Angello to seven AHL games and two points (one goal, one assist) this season.
Zohorna has appeared in one NHL game this season and has one assist. In 23 AHL contests, he has 10 points (five goals, five assists).
O’Connor has been shuffled between the NHL and AHL roster sporadically this season. In 20 NHL games, he has five points (three goals, two assists). Additionally, he has played in five AHL games and has five points (three goals, two assists) at that level.
With O’Connor removed from the protocols, the only players on the Penguins roster who currently carry that designation are forwards Brock McGinn and Bryan Rust and goaltender Casey DeSmith.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
