Penguins relinquish rights to 2017 second-round draft pick Zachary Lauzon
The Pittsburgh Penguins relinquished the NHL rights to 2017 second-round pick Zachary Lauzon, failing to sign him to an entry level contract by a Saturday deadline.
Lauzon, 20, was limited to 25 games in the regular season and five more in the playoffs due to concussion-related problems while playing for Rouyn-Noranda of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League last season. He did not play this year.
The Penguins picked Lauzon with the choice acquired from St. Louis when they traded Oscar Sundqvist and a first-round pick for Ryan Reaves at the 2017 draft. Lauzon is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman known for playing a hard-nosed game.
