The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry for Thursday’s home game against the New Jersey Devils at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status following an optional morning skate.
In 11 games this season, Jarry has a 6-5-0 record, a 2.31 goals against average, a .918 save percentage and three shutouts. He has won four consecutive games.
Throughout his career, Jarry has played the Devils in 13 contests and has a 6-5-2 record, a 3.03 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.
Notes:
• Per Sullivan, Penguins forwards Evgeni Malkin and Matt Nieto will each be available for the game. Both players missed practice in Cranberry on Wednesday. Malkin was described as feeling ill while Nieto had what was labeled as a “maintenance day.”

The Penguins’ last win against the Devils was a 4-2 road victory at the Prudential Center on Feb. 13, 2022. Forwards Brian Boyle and Bryan Rust and defenseman Mike Matheson each had a goal and an assist in that contest. Boyle scored the winning goal at 6:58 of the third period.
• On a completely irrelevant note, that was the same day as Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar were part of the halftime show.
• Penguins’ defenseman Kris Letang has 699 career points.
• The Devils are scheduled to start goaltender Vitek Vanecek. In 10 games this season, Vanecek has a 6-3-0 record, a 3.45 goals against average and an .887 save percentage. Throughout his career, Vanecek has played the Penguins in 12 games and has a 7-1-3 record, a 2.50 goals against averaged and a .914 save percentage.
• The Devils’ top two centers, Nico Hischier (undisclosed) and Jack Hughes (shoulder) are each sidelined due to injuries.
• Devils forward Timo Meier was labeled as a game-time decision due to an undisclosed injury by coach Lindy Ruff.
