Penguins scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry against Maple Leafs
The Pittsburgh Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry in Saturday’s home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs at PPG Paints Arena.
Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status approximately two hours before the game.
In 14 games this season, Jarry has a 6-8-0 record, a 2.47 goals against average, a .916 save percentage and three shutouts.
Throughout his career, Jarry has faced the Maple Leafs in seven games, posting a 4-2-0 record, 2.51 goals against average and .919 save percentage and one shutout.
Notes:
• Penguins forward Bryan Rust will miss a third consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury. He has been sidelined for the past two games due to an undisclosed injury. The Penguins have lost each of those contests.
Typically deployed on the right wing of the top line, Rust has 16 points (nine goals, seven assists) while averaging 18:45 of ice time per contest.
• In a paper transaction, the Penguins recalled reserve forward Jansen Harkins to the NHL roster Saturday morning. He was assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ roster on Friday shortly before a 3-2 road loss to the Buffalo Sabres.
Throughout the past eight days, Harkins has been shuffled between the organization’s NHL and American Hockey League rosters repeatedly for the sake of day-to-day management of the team’s salary cap figures.
• With each team playing road games on Friday, neither the Penguins nor Maple Leafs staged morning skates on Saturday.
• The Maple Leafs are expected to start rookie goaltender Joseph Woll. In 10 games this season, Woll has a 6-4-0 record, a 2.90 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
Woll has never played the Penguins.
• Maple Leafs forward Max Domi has played in 599 career games.
