Penguins select forward Zam Plante in 5th round

MONTREAL — In the fifth round (No. 150 overall) of the NHL draft, the Penguins selected forward Zam Plante.

With Hermantown High School (Minn.) last season, Plante appeared in 22 games and scored 64 points (24 goals, 40 assists). He also played in 31 games for the United States Hockey League’s Chicago Steel in 2021-22 and scored 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists).

Plante, 17, is listed at 5-foot-9, 161 pounds and is slated to attend Minnesota-Duluth in the NCAA next season. He is the son of former NHLer Derek Plante.
