Penguins’ Sidney Crosby scores as Canada beats Switzerland

A look at how members of the Pittsburgh Penguins are performing in the Winter Olympics:

Penguins forward Sidney Crosby scored his first goal of the tournament in a 5-1 win against Switzerland during a preliminary round contest at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena in Milan on Friday.

His goal came at 47:28 of the third period.

Opening play as Canada’s center on the third line, Crosby had 15:51 of ice time on 19 shifts and recorded three shots.

Highlights:

Canada’s next game is against France on Sunday, 10:40 a.m.

Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson and forward Rickard Rakell were each held without a point for Sweden in a 4-1 loss to Finland during a preliminary round contest at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena.

Opening the game on the right side of Sweden’s top pairing, Karlsson logged 18:47 of ice time on 27 shifts and had one shot.

Rakell began the contest on left wing of the third line and clocked 13:46 of ice time on 20 shifts and tallied three shots.

Highlights:

Sweden’s next game is against Slovakia on Saturday, 6:10 p.m.
