Penguins’ Sidney Crosby totals 3 points as Canada routs France

A look at how members of the Pittsburgh Penguins are performing in the Winter Olympics:

Penguins forward Sidney Crosby had three points (one goal, two assists) for Canada, which concluded the preliminary round with a 10-2 rout of France at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena in Milan on Sunday.

Crosby’s first assist came on a goal by defenseman Devon Toews at 9:33 of the first period. He then recorded a secondary assist on a power-play goal by defenseman Cale Makar at 32:10 of the second period.

At 37:35 of the second period, Crosby scored his second goal of the tournament.

Opening the game as center of the third line, Crosby logged 10:13 of ice time on 13 shifts and had one shot.

Former Robert Morris forward Justin Addamo generated primary assists on each of France’s goals.

Addamo’s first assist came on a goal by forward Floran Douay at 8:54 of the first period. Later, he tallied an assist on a goal by forward Sacha Treille at 41:28 of the third period.

Beginning the contest as center of the fourth line, Addamo logged 16:24 of ice time on 23 shifts and had one shot.

Highlights.

Canada’s next game is in the quartefinal round against an opponent to be determined on Wednesday, 10:40 a.m.

Penguins goaltender Artus Silovs made 17 saves on 20 shots for Latvia in a 4-2 loss to Denmark, concluding the preliminary round at the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena in Milan.

The result dropped Silovs’ record in the tournament to 1-1.

Sweden’s next game is against Sweden in the qualification playoff on Tuesday, 3:10 p.m.
