Penguins sign Czech forward Radim Zohorna
The Penguins on Wednesday signed Czech forward Radim Zohorna to a one-year, two-way contract for the 2020-21 season.
Zohorna, 24, spent this season with BK Mlada Boleslav in the Czech Republic’s ELH league. Listed at a robust 6-foot-6 and 233 pounds, Zohorna set career highs with 46 games and 22 points (10 goals, 12 assists).
“Radim is a smart player with good hockey sense that uses his big size to his advantage,” general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. “His ability to play all three forward positions will help provide depth to our forward group.”
A left-handed shot, Zohorna was a member of the 2017-18 HC Kometa Brno team that won the ELH championship.
Undrafted, Zohornia has played for the Czech Republic on the international stage, including this season’s Euro Hockey Tour in which he played nine games and recorded three assists.
