Penguins sign Dartmouth free agent Drew O'Connor

The Penguins signed Dartmouth sophomore Drew O’Connor to a two-year entry-level deal Tuesday.

NEWARK, N.J. — The Penguins signed undrafted free agent forward Drew O’Connor to a two-year entry-level contract. The contract will being in the 2020-21 season.

O’Connor, 21, just completed his sophomore season. In 31 games, he led the team with 33 points (21 goals, nine assists). His goal total was the fifth most during the NCAA’s regular season.

“Drew is a powerful skater with good hands, which helped him have a very good year at Dartmouth,” general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. “We are very happy Drew has joined the Penguins as we feel he can help our NHL club sooner rather than later.”

O’Connor, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, is a native of Wayne, N.J.
