Penguins sign former Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho

The Pittsburgh Penguins signed former New York Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho to a two-year contract that carries a salary cap hit of $775,000.

A left-handed shot, the 28-year-old Aho played in 58 games last season and scored nine points (two goals, seven assists) while averaging 16 minutes, 23 seconds of ice time.

Selected in the fifth round (No. 139) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Aho (5-foot-10, 180 pounds) has spent his entire five-year NHL career with the Islanders until this point.

Per Cap Friendly, Aho just completed a two-year contract with a salary cap hit of $825,000.

A native of Sweden, Aho is not related to Carolina Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho, a native of Finland.
