Continuing a busy start to NHL free agency Monday, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced the signing of forward Bokondji Imama to a one-year deal worth $775,000.
The 27-year-old appeared in six games for the Ottawa Senators last year and previously skated in nine NHL games over parts of two seasons with the Arizona Coyotes, scoring one goal.
Originally selected in the sixth round (No. 180 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft by Tampa Bay, Imama spent the majority of last year with the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League, posting three goals and seven assists.
Imama is a 6-foot-1 left-handed shot and a native of Montreal, Quebec.
The majority of Imama’s career has been in the AHL, with 310 games with the Ontario Reign, Tucson Roadrunners and Senators dating to 2017, during which he recorded 29 goals with 43 assists and 722 penalty minutes.
In this past season’s Calder Cup playoffs, he contributed a goal and two assists in seven games with the Senators.
The Penguins have signed forward Bokondji Imama to a one-year contract.
The contract will run through the 2024.25 season and holds an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.
