The Pittsburgh Penguins signed forward Colin White to a one-year, two-way contract that carries a salary cap hit worth $775,000.
White, 26, came to the team’s training camp on a professional tryout contract before signing his one-year contract Saturday.
In four games this preseason, the right-hander had no points and eight shots.
Last season with the Florida Panthers, White primarily played on that team’s fourth line as a center or right winger. In 68 games during the regular season, White scored 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) while logging 9:38 of ice time per contest.
White helped the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Final, playing in all 21 of their postseason games and posting two assists while averaging 7:25 of ice time per contest.
A native of Boston, White (6-foot-1, 194 pounds) was a first-round pick (No. 15 overall) of the Ottawa Senators in the 2015 NHL Draft and has seven seasons in the NHL, either with the Senators or Panthers.
According to Cap Friendly, the Penguins now have 48 players signed to NHL contracts for the 2023-24 season, two short of the NHL’s limit of 50. The league’s deadline to submit a season-opening roster is 5 p.m. Monday.
