The Pittsburgh Penguins’ foundations will auction unused St. Patrick’s Days jerseys for the benefit of various charities including those geared towards aiding individuals impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Per a release issued by the team:
“The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation today announced it will auction special green St. Patrick’s Day jerseys, with each player’s name and number, to benefit local charitable efforts, including food banks and other community groups working on behalf of those impacted by coronavirus COVID-19. The auction will also include a selection of autographed St. Patrick’s Day pucks.”
The Penguins had originally ordered the jerseys for use by players in the warmup before the Sunday, March 15 game against the New York Islanders, which was postponed, as the NHL paused the season because of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
The auction will begin March 17th and run through March 24th.
Follow the Penguins all season long.
