Penguins to honor ex-broadcaster Mike Lange
The Pittsburgh Penguins will honor former broadcaster Mike Lange during a home game against the Dallas Stars on Oct. 19.
Lange, who retired this past summer after 46 years with the franchise, will attend the game as a fan for the first time in more than four decades.
Other fans in attendance will receive a cheer card with one of Lange’s iconic phrases.
“I am more than honored to share this night with the fans of Pittsburgh,” Lange said in a statement. “I’ll be smiling like a butcher’s dog while I enjoy the hockey game.”
Lange, 73, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001 by virtue of winning the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award, a honor given by the NHL Broadcasters’ Association.
