The Penguins are scheduled to start goaltender Tristan Jarry in Sunday’s home game against the Carolina Hurricanes at PPG Paints Arena.
His status was announced by the team roughly two hours before the contest opened.
Jarry has appeared in 40 games this season — third-most in the NHL — and has a 25-9-6 record, a 2.25 goals against average, a .923 save percentage and three shutouts.
In two career games against the Hurricanes, Jarry has a 0-2-0 record, a 4.05 goals against average and an .884 save percentage.
Notes:
• Per a statement from the team, injured forwards Teddy Blueger (broken jaw) and Drew O’Connor (suspected collapsed lung) skated on Sunday morning.
Blueger, currently on injured reserve, has not played since Jan. 23.
O’Connor, sidelined since Jan. 15, is designated to long-term injured reserve.
• The Hurricanes are expected to start goaltender Antti Raanta on Sunday. In 12 games this season, Raanta has a 6-3-1 record, a 2.39 goals against average, a .909 save percentage and one shutout.
In seven career games against the Penguins, Raanta has a 1-4-0 record, a 3.15 goals against average and a .908 save percentage.
• Hurricanes forward Vincent Trocheck, a native of Upper St. Clair, was labeled as “hopeful” for Sunday’s game by head coach Rod Brind’Amour. Trocheck suffered an undisclosed injury on Friday during a 5-3 home win against the Predators.
