The Penguins traded minor league forward Ryan Haggerty to Florida Panthers in exchange for another minor league forward, Kevin Roy.

Roy, 26, is signed to a one-year, two-way contract with a salary-cap hit of $850,000. In 23 AHL games for the Springfield Thunderbirds this season, Roy has 14 points (four goals, 10 assists).

A fourth-round pick by the Anaheim Ducks in 2012, the 5-foot-9, 172-pound Roy has played in 28 NHL games during his career, all with Anaheim. He has totaled seven points (six goals, one assist).

Haggerty, 26, had spent parts of four seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. After leading the team in goals with 23 in 68 games last season, Haggerty has struggled this season with only six points (three goals, three assists) in 23 games.

He is in the final year of a two-way contract with a salary-cap hit of $675,000 at the NHL level.
