Penguins waive forward Jonathan Gruden
The Pittsburgh Penguins placed rookie forward Jonathan Gruden on waivers Monday afternoon.
Should no other team claim Gruden by 2 p.m. Tuesday, he can be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
This season, Gruden has played in a career-best 11 NHL games and scored one goal while averaging 8:49 of ice time per contest while primarily being deployed on the fourth line.
With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Gruden has appeared in 41 AHL contests and scored 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists).
A left-handed shot, Gruden has been recalled to the NHL roster on five occasions this season, most recently on Saturday. In September, Gruden cleared waivers before being assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
In his fourth professional season, Gruden is signed to a one-year, two-way contract with a salary cap hit of $775,000.
