Penn State basketball coach says he will do better next time, apologizes for shoving player
Penn State basketball coach Patrick Chambers apologized after appearing to shove a player during a game Thursday night.
ESPN cameras caught Chambers pushing player Myles Dread during a timeout in the first half of a game versus Michigan.
At a press conference after the game Chambers addressed the incident.
“I absolutely love, love Myles Dread. He committed to us as a sophomore. So I’ve known him forever, him and his parents,” Chambers said.
“Absolutely love him. I apologize to him. I was just trying to challenge him, just trying to get the best out of him, and hopefully I’ll do it differently next time. No, not hopefully. I will do it a different way next time.”
Michigan basketball beat writer Jay Sarkar posted video of the postgame apology:
Chambers has been coach with Penn State since 2011-12.
Penn State lost 68-55.
