Penn State men’s basketball will be without its leading scorer moving forward.

First-year coach Mike Rhoades announced Monday during a press conference that Kanye Clary is no longer with the program because of a “coach’s decision.”

Clary, a sophomore guard, was averaging 16.7 points per game this season. He had started in 20 of the 23 games he played in, but didn’t make the trip with the Nittany Lions for their road contest against Nebraska over the weekend.

“We’re going to keep moving forward on the guys we got, the task at hand,” Rhoades said Monday. “It came to a point where we’re at, that I made the decision as the head coach to move on. I’ll leave it at that.”

Rhoades did not provide any further details when asked.

Penn State has lost its last three games and has fallen to 12th place in the Big Ten standings with five games left in the regular season.
