Penn State defensive end Arnold Ebiketie opts out of Outback Bowl to prepare for NFL Draft
Penn State redshirt defensive end Arnold Ebiketie announced his decision to opt out of Saturday’s Outback Bowl against Arkansas on Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
“To my Penn State family, my time here has been an incredible testament to the places your dreams can take you if you’re willing to work hard enough,” Ebiketie wrote. “From the beginning I was welcomed with open arms. I never felt like just a kid who transferred here; everyone treated me like family the minute I stepped on campus.
“The coaching staff led the way and helped me develop into a better person and player. I’m appreciative for every lesson learned and every relationship I made during my time at Penn State.”
The Temple transfer filled in nicely for the Nittany Lions with 62 tackles (34 solo), 9.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. In four years split between Temple and Penn State, he compiled 121 tackles (76 solo), 15.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.
Ebiketie is widely projected as a Day 2 selection in the NFL Draft. Penn State safety Jaquan Brisker, linebackers Brandon Smith and Ellis Brooks, along with wide receiver Jahan Dotson have also opted out of the Outback Bowl.
